The Format a time helper allows you to convert time formats to suit various needs.

This helper takes a time input and outputs it in the format you specify, offering flexibility for time data presentation and utilization.

Common use-cases

  • Displaying time in a format that's easy to read

  • Adjusting time displays to localized formats

  • Converting time into specific formats required by other applications (e.g., 24-hour or 12-hour formats)

HH:mm:ss

15:45:30

hh:mm:ss a

03:45:30 pm

h:mm:ss a

3:45:30 pm

hh:mm:ss A

03:45:30 PM

h:mm:ss A

3:45:30 PM

Example 1 - 12-hour to 24-hour format

If your project requires displaying time in a 24-hour (e.g. military) format for clarity:

  1. Input time in a standard 12-hour format: 3:45:30 PM

  2. Select the 24-hour format option: HH:mm:ss

The helper will convert and return the time as 15:45:30, aligning with the military time format.

Example 2 - Simplifying time display

For user interfaces where a simple time display is preferred, you might need to convert detailed time data into a more concise format:

  1. Input time with seconds: 15:45:30

  2. Choose a simpler format without seconds: HH:mm

The helper will then provide the time in the selected format, 15:45, making it easier and cleaner for users to read.
